On the site of what used to be a former horse track, Tropical Park was created to provide a recreational escape for people in Miami-Dade. The park was first opened in 1979, and since then there have been millions of visitors over the twenty plus years. Enjoy a multitude of activities from biking, walking, and jogging along the pathways that cut through the park, or check out the fitness center. As one of the largest parks in the city, there are endless opportunities that go beyond just exercising. Enjoy the park for a picnic or check out the various facilities found within the park, such as Tropical Stadium and the park’s Equestrian Center. Tropical Stadium is home to some of the most prestigious track and field events held by the Junior Olympics and USA National Track and Field Championships. The Equestrian Center holds over thirty shows every year, attracting people from around the world.

Tropical Park Equestrian Center has two clay show rings, one for performance and one for warm-ups. It also has two grass courses, plus seating for approximately 1,000 persons. At the heart of the equestrian facility is a promenade and a state-of-the-art show arena covered by a 200′ x 275′ standing steel roof.
